About a month or so ago, we noticed that Eevee was really slowing down. Normally she poops everyday - we know because we have the litter box at our helm, which has to be cleaned every day. Well, she started pooping every few days, at longer and longer intervals. At the same time, we noticed she was not eating much, and so we tried to switch her over from solid cat food to canned tuna, which she really likes. She continued to lose her appetite, and we started to see she was losing weight and moving around slowly. This had progressed over several weeks to the point that she looked like she was in pain when she walked around. So, we made an appointment with a vet and took her in.
After some blood and urine analysis, she was diagnosed with advanced kidney failure, and a poor prognosis. We did not want her to suffer, so we made a difficult decision.
We have had her for 14 years, since she was a kitten. She has shared our adventures on our boats, and on the loop. She was family.
